Ryan K. Smith mastered it from the original analog tapes, and it was pressed at Optimal. The front of the jacket keeps the original stereo catalog number, V6-5053, and the runouts carry Smith's RKS initials alongside a Sterling stamp.

Valle recorded the album in October and November 1967, and Verve issued it in March 1968. Eumir Deodato wrote the arrangements, and Anamaria Valle, then Marcos Valle's wife, sings with him across the record. Billboard reviewed it in its March 23, 1968 issue, and AllMusic's John Bush later called it one of the best Brazilian crossovers of the 1960s.

The songs are English-language versions of material Valle wrote in Brazil, much of it with his brother Paulo Sergio Valle. "So Nice (Summer Samba)" is "Samba de Verao" in English; Walter Wanderley's instrumental recording of it reached the US Top 40 in 1966. "Crickets Sing for Anamaria" adapts "Os Grilos," with English lyrics by Ray Gilbert, and Emma Bunton's cover of it reached No. 15 on the UK Singles Chart.

Tracklist

Side A

The Answer

Crickets Sing For Anamaria

So Nice (Summer Samba)

Chup Chup, I Got Away

If You Went Away

Pepino Beach

Side B

She Told Me, She Told Me

It's Time To Sing

Batucada

The Face I Love

Safely In Your Arms

UPC: 199957015127
Label: Verve
Release Date: 5.15.26
Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0718/8801/1422/files/MarcosValle_Samba68_1LP-ProductShot.png?v=1791402744
