It comes with a download of \u003cem\u003ePerch Patchwork (Expanded Edition)\u003c\/em\u003e, a digital-only collection of B-sides, remixes, demos and instrumental mixes from the same period, which reached streaming services on August 21, 2026.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe band formed in Chicago in 2004, when the four members met at Columbia College Chicago: Dave Davison on guitar and vocals, Erin Elders on guitar, Shiraz Dada on bass and Chris Hainey on drums. After two EPs they spent most of 2009 writing and recording the album with producer Jason Cupp, signed to Barsuk in March 2010 and released it that June.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBarsuk sets the album against the dry, live sound of those EPs: here the songs are filled out with strings, horns, assorted percussion and toy instruments, with guest players on cello, violin, brass and woodwinds.
