It comes in a heavyweight glossy tip-on gatefold jacket with an obi strip, and the obi and the back cover mark it as a numbered edition of 5,000. Inside is a four-page insert built around a new Q\u0026amp;A in which Rhino's Patrick Milligan interviews Mitchell about the album, with photographs by Joel Bernstein.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReprise released \u003cem\u003eBlue\u003c\/em\u003e on June 22, 1971. Mitchell wrote and produced every song and recorded the album at A\u0026amp;M Studios in Hollywood with engineer Henry Lewy, finishing in March 1971. The arrangements rest mostly on her piano, acoustic guitar and Appalachian dulcimer. Stephen Stills plays bass and guitar on \"Carey,\" Sneaky Pete Kleinow adds pedal steel to \"California\" and \"This Flight Tonight,\" Russ Kunkel drums on three tracks, and James Taylor plays acoustic guitar on \"All I Want,\" \"California\" and \"A Case of You.\" \"All I Want,\" the opening track, is the video above.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe album reached No. 3 in the UK, No. 9 in Canada and No. 15 on the Billboard 200, and it is certified platinum in the US and double platinum in the UK. \"Carey\" and \"California\" were issued as singles.
