Most of it was cut at Atlantic Studios in New York on May 4 and 5, 1959, with Tommy Flanagan on piano, Paul Chambers on bass and Art Taylor on drums. \"Naima\" comes from a December 2, 1959, date with Wynton Kelly on piano and Jimmy Cobb on drums.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe title track moves its key centers by major thirds, the pattern now called Coltrane changes, and both \"Giant Steps\" and \"Naima\" became jazz standards.
