faust-moi-lp
Faust - Moi: Curated by Jean-Hervé Péron (Vinyl)

Single LP, Bureau B, Curated by Jean-Hervé Péron

One of four albums Bureau B released together in 2026, each one curated by a living member of the 1971-1974 Faust line-up and each presenting that member's own reading of what Faust can be. Moi is Jean-Hervé Péron's, gathering ideas, memories and unfinished projects accumulated across his whole lifetime. The subtitle, "Maybe Of Interest," works against the title: moi can read as self-confidence, and the label's notes call the undercut a typically Peronian joke.

The record is credited to FaUSt, with the "US" capitalized on purpose. More than twenty musicians, engineers, writers and performers from the extended Faust circle contributed to the sessions, which ran over two winter weeks at Schiphorst studio in northern Germany. Bureau B describes the method as meticulous planning, free improvisation and chance discovery held in the same frame, and the material as drawing equally on childhood memory, Fluxus principles, dadaist humor and personal experience. Across twelve tracks the album moves between musique concrète, avant-pop, jazz, spoken word and experimental electronics.

"Charles et Léon" opens as a collage of electronics, tape manipulation, found sound and francophone samples. "Diabolus in Musica" builds from a chance encounter with the tritone. "Splash!" sets multilingual voices and backmasked fragments against shifting rhythm. "Metro Nomen" is Fluxus-inspired and "Make Me Up" is spoken word, both working on identity, language and disruption. "Du Fehlst Mir," written after the loss of a companion, is a late-night jazz ballad; "Telele" draws on Péron's childhood influences and the label describes it as by turns choral, dreamlike and unsettling. "Quinten & Quarten" works in spacious jazz textures, and "Writings On The Wall" turns to socially conscious reflection. The closing "Doux Ami" moves from introspection to a communal ending.

Péron was part of the 1971-1974 Faust line-up, and the other three albums in this series are curated by Gunther Wüsthoff, Zappi W. Diermaier and Hans-Joachim Irmler. Bureau B, the Hamburg label, issues this pressing as BB488LP.

Tracklist

Charles et Léon

Diabolus in Musica

Splash!

Du Fehlst Mir

Make Me Up

Quinten & Quarten

Dann Stimmt Irgendetwas Nicht Mehr

Telele

L'Orchestre des Anges

Metro Nomen

Writings On The Wall

Doux Ami

UPC: 4015698906639
Label: Bureau B
Release Date: 10.9.26
Format: Vinyl
