The metallic purple Loser Edition that went out alongside the release sold out in November 2018; Sub Pop states that every order shipped since then carries the album on black vinyl. Ten songs across two sides.

Josh Tillman wrote most of God's Favorite Customer in New York between the summer of 2016 and the winter of 2017. He produced it himself and recorded it with Jonathan Rado of Foxygen, Dave Cerminara and Trevor Spencer, with contributions from the Haxan Cloak, Natalie Mering of Weyes Blood, his longtime collaborator Jonathan Wilson and members of his touring band. Alliance's copy also records an alternate title for the record, Mr. Tillman's Wild Ride.

Sub Pop's own notes describe the album as written from between the vertigo of heartbreak and the manic throes of freedom, and name "Mr. Tillman" and "Please Don't Die" as the two ends of its range. The title track, the label writes, examines the relationship between forgiveness and sin.

Tracklist

Side A

Hangout at the Gallows

Mr. Tillman

Just Dumb Enough to Try

Date Night

Please Don't Die

Side B

The Palace

Disappointing Diamonds Are the Rarest of Them All

God's Favorite Customer

The Songwriter

We're Only People (And There's Not Much Anyone Can Do About That)

Complete the Collection

Six Father John Misty titles at Evergreen Vinyl, this one included: Fear Fun, I Love You, Honeybear, Pure Comedy, Greatish Hits: I Followed My Dreams and My Dreams Said to Crawl and Mahashmashana.

UPC: 098787124514
Label: Sub Pop
Release Date: 6.1.18
Format: Vinyl
