Matthew Lutthans mastered it from the original analog tapes, Quality Record Pressings (QRP) pressed it on 180-gram vinyl, and it ships in a tip-on gatefold jacket. The label's product photography shows the original cover art, Stereo A-88 badge included, and a black disc with the orange-and-black Impulse! center label.

The sessions ran at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, on February 23 and 25, 1965, with Bob Thiele producing, and the record was Jones's first for Impulse! as a leader.
