The fourteen songs run in the original order, seven to a side.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eElis Regina and Antonio Carlos Jobim recorded the album over sixteen days, from February 22 to March 9, 1974, at MGM Studios in Los Angeles. Philips approved the project as a gift to Regina marking her tenth anniversary with the label. Aloysio de Oliveira produced and Humberto Gatica engineered. César Camargo Mariano arranged every track except \"Modinha,\" which Jobim arranged himself, and Bill Hitchcock conducted the strings on five songs.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMariano played piano and electric piano, with Hélio Delmiro and Oscar Castro-Neves on guitars, Luizão Maia on bass and Paulo Braga on drums. Jobim plays piano on eight tracks and sings on four, including the opening duet \"Águas de Março.\" Every song is his, several written with Vinícius de Moraes, Chico Buarque or de Oliveira.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAllMusic's Thom Jurek describes it as \"widely regarded as one of the greatest Brazilian pop recordings.\" Rolling Stone placed it 11th on its list of the 100 greatest Brazilian albums, and it entered the Latin Grammy Hall of Fame in 2007.
