The discs are housed in a gatefold jacket with printed inner sleeves.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe compilation first came out in January 2008 on DreamWorks, Geffen and UMe, assembled to mark ten years of the band led by Mark Oliver Everett, known as E. It arrived alongside the rarities set Useless Trinkets, and a second volume, Eels So Good: Essential Eels Vol. 2 (2007-2020), followed in 2023. Production credits across the set belong to E, Jim Jacobson, John Parish, Mickey Petralia and Michael Simpson.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSide A opens with \"Novocaine for the Soul,\" the lead single from the 1996 debut Beautiful Freak. It charted in the US, Canada, the UK and the Netherlands, and its video was directed by Mark Romanek. The band went on to win Best International Breakthrough Act at the 1998 BRIT Awards.
