It carries the twenty-four-track expanded program rather than the sixteen-song single-LP running order: the album proper, the seven bonus tracks from the 2007 deluxe edition, and the "Gulf of Danzig" remix of "Go into the Water" that Williams Street first added to the vinyl release in July 2008.

The Dethalbum came out on September 25, 2007 through Williams Street Records, and it was the first full-length collection of the Dethklok songs written for Metalocalypse, set alongside tracks that never appeared in an episode. Brendon Small wrote the music and played everything except the drums, which Gene Hoglan handled. Ulrich Wild produced it with Small at Bombshelter Studios in Los Angeles and mixed it at Noize in the Attic; Tom Baker mastered it at Precision Mastering. Emilie Autumn plays violin on "Dethharmonic," and Antonio Canobbio drew the cover.

It entered the Billboard 200 at No. 21 on first-week sales of about 33,700 copies, the highest a death metal album had charted to that point, and Dethalbum II passed it two years later. On radio it reached No. 6 on CMJ's Loud Rock chart, No. 11 on FMQB and No. 1 on Mediaguide's metal specialty chart.

The eight songs that follow the album sat across formats for years. Seven of them made up the bonus disc of the 2007 deluxe edition, the "Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle," the Snakes n' Barrels cover "Kill You" and "Dethklok Gets in Tune" among them, and the iTunes deluxe version carried only three of those. WaterTower Music gathered all twenty-four onto one release in May 2023.

Tracklist

Murmaider

Go into the Water

Awaken

Bloodrocuted

Go Forth and Die

Fansong

Better Metal Snake

The Lost Vikings

Thunderhorse

Briefcase Full of Guts

Birthday Dethday

Hatredcopter

Castratikron

Face Fisted

Dethharmonic

Deththeme

Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle

Blood Ocean

Murdertrain a Comin'

Pickles Intro

Kill You

Hatredy

Dethklok Gets in Tune

Go into the Water (Gulf of Danzig Remix)

Complete the Collection

Dethalbum III

The Dethalbum (this release)

UPC: 692878378031
Label: Project M
Release Date: 1.23.26
Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0718/8801/1422/files/4461740-3497769_b4d510f3-5efb-4a41-886f-46c717563e3a.jpg?v=1792594158
