Joe Elliott executive produced it with Ronan McHugh, and Andy Pearce did the mastering.

The first disc is the original album, remastered. The second gathers out-takes, demos and rough mixes. Elliott found the demos on old cassettes while going through the band's vaults, McHugh restored them, and among them is "No You Can't Do That," an unreleased song Elliott calls the long-lost unfinished "11th track." He described the whole project as "a labor of love."

Discs three and four are concerts from the Pyromania tour: the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, Germany, in December 1983, and the Forum in Los Angeles earlier the same year.

The Blu-ray carries a Dolby Atmos mix of the album overseen by Giles Martin, along with 5.1, new stereo and instrumental mixes and five promotional videos from the era. The book tells the story of the album in an essay by Paul Elliott, with photographs by Ross Halfin and new interviews with the band.

Pyromania first came out in January 1983, produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange. It was the first Def Leppard album with Phil Collen, who replaced Pete Willis partway through the sessions, and it reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. "Photograph," "Rock of Ages" and "Foolin'" were Top 40 hits in the US, and the RIAA has certified the album diamond for more than ten million copies sold.
