Cole Furlow, a songwriter from the hills of North Mississippi who has released music under it since 2009. This LP gathers songs from his early cassettes and 7-inch singles on DIY labels including Group Tightener, Fire Talk and Clan Destine, most of them out of print by 2013, and adds new material. Two of the twelve tracks, "I Found The Ending" and the closer "Fight Til It's Dead," were previously unreleased.

Several of these songs had earlier releases on record. "This Big World" and "Remember What Brought Us Here" first appeared on a 2010 split tape with Gray Things. "Glory Days For Sure" came out on the Group Tightener 10-inch later that year, and "Fishing With Robert" was the title track of a 7-inch issued through La Station Radar and Atelier Ciseaux.

Furlow wrote, played and recorded most of the album himself. He came up through the Cats Purring Collective with Dent May, Bass Drum of Death and Flight, and by 2013 Dead Gaze had grown into a five-piece live band. The release notes describe pop songs set inside recordings that put the emphasis on texture.

Palmist, a FatCat-affiliated imprint, issued the record in 2013. The LP carries Palmist's catalog number PALMLP01, with FatCat's own number FAT-0119 alongside it, and runs six tracks to a side. Furlow's first proper studio album, Brain Holiday, followed on FatCat later the same year after sessions at Sweet Tea studio in Oxford, Mississippi.

Tracklist

Side A

Remember What Brought Us Here

You'll Carry On Real Nice

This Big World

Future Loves And Sing Abouts

Glory Days For Sure

Back And Forth

Side B

Take Me Home Or I Die Alone

I Found The Ending

A Simple Man

There's A Time To Be Stupid

Fishing With Robert

Fight Til It's Dead

UPC: 600116610119
Label: Fat Cat
Release Date: 3.26.13
Format: Vinyl
