He worked as a sideman with Johnny Littlejohn, Son Seals and the Legendary Blues Band, then assembled the Bluebirds as his own backing group, and he has recorded for Delmark since 1991 - a run the label marked with the double album Six String Soul: 30 Years On Delmark.
