The two discs are pressed on blue and red vinyl and ship in a gatefold jacket with printed inner sleeves.

The layout gives the album's eight-song core the first disc, then sets "Man the Ramparts" alone on side C. Side D holds "One Twenty Two," a 2:16 song recorded in December 2021 and issued as a single on August 24, 2022. It was the first Botch release of any kind since the live album 061502 in 2006, and Sargent House's notes call it the first music bassist Brian Cook, guitarist Dave Knudson, drummer Tim Latona and vocalist Dave Verellen had written together in over 20 years.

"One Twenty Two" started as a heavy song Knudson had written for his debut solo album, and it became a Botch song once Verellen was invited to sing on it. When it came out, the members said the band had not reunited; Botch went on to tour in 2023 and 2024. The video above, directed by Dimitri Luedemann, comes from the label's own channel.

We Are the Romans was the Tacoma band's second and final studio album, first issued by Hydra Head Records in November 1999. Botch tracked it with Matt Bayles at Studio Litho in Seattle between June 29 and July 8, 1999, roughly a week of recording, and reworked "Frequenting Mass Transit," from a split release with Murder City Devils, into "Frequency Ass Bandit" as a late addition. The album's title comes from the lyrics of "Man the Ramparts."

Decibel inducted the record into its Hall of Fame in November 2005, and Loudwire placed it fifth in its ranking of the 25 best metalcore albums. After Hydra Head folded and returned the masters to the band, the catalog moved to Sargent House for this remastered reissue. Botch formed in 1993 and played their final show on June 15, 2002; members went on to These Arms Are Snakes, Minus the Bear and Russian Circles.

Tracklist

Disc 1, Side A

To Our Friends in the Great White North

Mondrian Was a Liar

Transitions from Persona to Object

Swimming the Channel vs. Driving the Chunnel

Disc 1, Side B

C.
