The deluxe set was first issued in April 2026 and sold out on the day of release, and the RSD Essentials notes describe this pressing as a second chance at the same edition. Those notes list a thick tip-on sleeve, complete liner notes on the story of the album, lyrics, bonus material and extended content, and credit a new remaster to Chris Muth, whose work includes the Rolling Stones and AC/DC. An OBI strip carries the RSD Essentials mark and the line "The best Billy Squier record you never heard." The album had never been pressed on vinyl before 2026.

Tell The Truth was Squier's eighth studio album and his last for Capitol Records, released March 4, 1993. Mike Chapman, whose production credits include Sweet and Blondie, produced it. Squier has said that Capitol's incoming president, Gary Gersh, called him at home in the spring of 1993, told him it was the best record the label had coming, and then told him he would bury it. Squier asked his lawyer to get him out of the contract and stepped away from the business; the album did not chart in the United States and sold fewer than 40,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan. He has kept a high opinion of it since: "I think that Tell the Truth is one of the best rock records ever made by me or anyone."

The lead track, "Angry," was Squier's last radio hit, and the RSD Essentials notes say it drew more radio adds in its first week than any earlier Squier track. This edition runs to fourteen tracks against the 1993 album's twelve: "Rhythm" appears in an extended version, the running order is resequenced, and "Walkin' Me Baby / Still All Right" and "Almost Home" are added. The video above is "The Girl's All Right," from the album, performed live in 2007.

Tracklist

Angry

Tryin' To Walk A Straight Line

Rhythm (Extended Version)

The Girl's All Right

Lovin' You Ain't So Hard

Hercules

Walkin' Me Baby / Still All Right

Stranger To Myself

Time-Bomb

Break Down

Not A Color

Mind-Machine

Shocked Straight

Almost Home

UPC: 810137044217
Label: Flatiron
Release Date: 11.27.26
Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0718/8801/1422/files/billy-squier-tell-the-truth-rsd-essentials-packshot.jpg?v=1792128021
