Atco issued it in December 1960 as the flip side of \"First Taste of Love,\" which follows it here, and it became King's first hit away from the Drifters, reaching No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 15 on the R\u0026amp;B chart.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\"Stand By Me\" was recorded on October 27, 1960, and is credited to King with Leiber and Stoller.
