Dualtone's notes say she was turning personal experience into songs by 13 and playing them at local coffee houses, raised on Bonnie Raitt and Carole King and later drawn to independent artists such as Lizzy McAlpine and Jensen McCrae. When family hardship forced her to leave college, she began posting a cover to TikTok every day in January 2024, and her version of Reneé Rapp's \"Tummy Hurts\" went viral.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJon Class produced most of the record; Matt Martin produced the title track and \"nosedive.\" \"sometimes (i love you),\" which closes the album, was written in Los Angeles with Mona Khoshoi and Hayley Gene Penner. \"nosedive\" arrived with the album's announcement, and Bugg has said it \"came from a time when a former partner put me in a very awkward situation.\" In the label's words, the album \"captures a pivotal chapter of identity, independence, and leaving home behind,\" tracing loss through heartbreak, nostalgia and grief.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBefore the album, Bugg toured in support of Courtney Marie Andrews, and she is one of the newer Dualtone artists on the label's anniversary compilation, Keep Pressing On: 25 Years of Dualtone, alongside The Lumineers, Shakey Graves and Mt.
