The vinyl runs in its own order: side one opens with "Two Stars" and closes with "Searchlight," and "Rainbows," the opening song on the streaming release, sits second on side two.

In the Hour of Chaos is the third studio album from the Montreal-born, Nashville-based singer and songwriter, following The Returner (2023). It came out on July 10, 2026 through Black Wonder LLC, her imprint with Fantasy Records. Fantasy's notes call it less a third solo record than "a mixtape to a musical yet to be written," and the album was built as a collaborative song suite: every one of its eleven songs except "Rainbows" carries a guest.

The guests are Norah Jones, Joy Oladokun, Kara Jackson, Denitia, Ruby Amanfu, Devon Gilfillian, Kashus Culpepper, Brittney Spencer, Sara Watkins, Kyshona, Julie Williams, Chibueze Ihuoma and Ahya Simone. Russell produced it with Dim Star, the team of Drew Lindsay and JT Nero, who also co-wrote the songs with her. Brandon Bell recorded and mixed it, with sessions at Henson, and Kim Rosen mastered it at Knack Mastering. The band includes Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, Megan McCormick, Nikki Glaspie and Anna Butterss. The label's materials for the album include an essay by the writer Ocean Vuong.

Tracklist

Side A

Two Stars

Cold April

Black Lavender

Love Is a Golden Lion

Just Like Saturday

Searchlight

Side B

Chaos Theory

Rainbows

No Springtime

Really Real

Good Omens

*** Indie Exclusive ***
UPC: 888072784673
Label: Fantasy
Release Date: 7.10.26
Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0718/8801/1422/files/Allison_Russell_In_the_Hour_of_Chaos_Vinyl_LP_Aubergine.png?v=1791694871
https://evergreenvinyl.com/products/allison-russell-in-the-hour-of-chaos-indie-exclusive-aubergine-vinyl
