Kinney told \u003cem\u003eGuitar World\u003c\/em\u003e: \"After playing loud music for a year, we'd come home and the last thing we wanted to do was crank up the amps right away.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eColumbia released \u003cem\u003eJar of Flies\u003c\/em\u003e on January 25, 1994, and it became the first EP to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. \"No Excuses,\" above, gave the band its first No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, and \"I Stay Away\" was nominated for the Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance.
