For most of its making it was titled Mad Orchestra. The band swapped "Mad" for "OK" to carry the album's theme: worrying about becoming irrelevant and obsolete later on, while feeling OK in the present moment. Joe Zook mixed it and Chris Gehringer mastered it.

Five singles came from the album: "Bang!", "Bummerland", "My Play", "Way Less Sad" and "World's Smallest Violin." "Bang!" was the lead single, released in February 2020, and it reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. "Way Less Sad" samples Simon & Garfunkel's "My Little Town," and Blue Man Group feature on "Ordinaryish People." OK Orchestra debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200 dated April 10, 2021, the band's second top-10 album.
