She sings, with some vocals pitch-shifted, and plays piano, keys and synths and works with samples; guest players add violin, viola, cello, bass, lap steel, harmonium, flute, saxophone, percussion and backing vocals. It is her first album since Myopia in 2020.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eDeutsche Grammophon describes the record as shaped by the birth of her first child, and by themes of new beginnings, interconnectedness and metamorphosis. Its reference points include Hannah Arendt's idea of natality, Emanuele Coccia's writing on plants and metamorphosis, the poetry of Enheduanna, the earliest known named author, and the Danish pop of the 1980s and '90s. The album is dedicated to her daughter.
