Kevin Gray mastered this edition, and Optimal pressed it on two 180-gram LPs in a gatefold jacket. Side D carries two bonus tracks, "Memory Of A Flame" and an alternate take of "Travelers." Blue Note's notes say both were previously available only in Japan.

The album was Aaron Parks' first as a leader for Blue Note, released in August 2008. He had come to the label through Terence Blanchard's band and appears on the trumpeter's albums Bounce, Flow and A Tale of God's Will. Here Parks leads a quartet: Mike Moreno on guitar, Matt Penman on bass and Eric Harland on drums. Parks himself plays piano, mellotron, glockenspiel and synthesizers. The sessions ran January 20 to 22, 2008 at Brooklyn Recording, and Parks co-produced them with Michele Locatelli.

Blue Note's notes describe the material as Parks' original compositions. They name Wayne Shorter, Radiohead, Bjork and Meshell Ndegeocello among its influences. Parks was born in Seattle and started at the University of Washington at fourteen. He had released four albums on Keynote before making this Blue Note debut. Penman and Harland later joined him and saxophonist Joshua Redman in the band James Farm.

Tracklist

LP 1, Side A

Travelers

Peaceful Warrior

Nemesis

LP 1, Side B

Riddle Me This

Into The Labyrinth

Karma

Roadside Distraction

LP 2, Side C

Harvesting Dance

Praise

Afterglow

LP 2, Side D

Memory Of A Flame

Travelers (Alternate Take)

UPC: 602458320381
Label: Blue Note Records
Release Date: 6.21.24
Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0718/8801/1422/files/AaronParks-InvisibleCinema_2LP-ProductShot_copy_2_1.png?v=1791397135
