BMG's super deluxe edition (catalog number BMGCAT575BOX), released in February 2023, spreads 60 tracks across six black 140-gram records, using the 2015 remasters and carrying the audio of the four-CD super deluxe sets.

The records come in a rigid slipcase box together with a 64-page, 12 x 12 inch booklet of liner notes and photography. The record sleeves carry pencil sketches tied to the "Take On Me" video, whose mix of pencil animation and live action helped take the single to number one in the US.

LP 1 is the original ten-track album. LPs 2 and 3 gather 25 demos from 1982 to 1984, opening with "Lesson One," the autumn 1982 "Take On Me" demo, and running through the Naersnes and Rendezvous demos. LPs 4 and 5 collect single mixes, extended versions and B-sides, among them the 1984 and 1985 12-inch mixes of "Take On Me" and the B-sides "Stop! And Make Your Mind Up" and "Driftwood." LP 6 holds the alternate mixes, from the video version of "Take On Me" to an early "NYC" mix of "Dream Myself Alive."

Side G opens with the original 1984 7-inch version of "Take On Me." The song became a hit only on its third release, in 1985, after it was re-recorded and paired with a new video directed by Steve Barron.

The album's archival reissues began with a 2CD deluxe edition in 2010, followed in 2015 by a 4CD+DVD super deluxe for the 30th anniversary, reissued without the DVD in 2019. This vinyl set carries the four discs of audio; the DVD is not part of it. Paste Magazine included the box in its list of the 20 best box sets of 2023. On its release, the band said that revisiting the record more than 30 years on "feels like inspiration rather than obligation."

Hunting High and Low was a-ha's 1985 debut, and the band's own announcement notes that it earned them a 1986 Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.

Tracklist

LP 1: The Original Album

Side A

Take On Me

Train of Thought

Hunting High and Low

The Blue Sky

Living a Boy's Adventure Tale

Side B

The Sun Always Shines on T.V.

And You Tell Me

Love Is Reason

Dream Myself Alive

Here I Stand and Face the Rain

LP 2 and LP 3: The Demos 1982-1984

Side C

Lesson One (Autumn 1982 "Take On Me" Demo)

Presenting Lily Mars (Nærsnes Demo)

Så Blåser Det På Jorden (Nærsnes Demo)

The Sphinx (Nærsnes Demo)

Living a Boy's Adventure Tale (Nærsnes Demo)

Dot the I

The Love Goodbye

Side D

Nothing to It

Go to Sleep

Train of Thought (Demo)

Monday Mourning

All the Planes That Come In on the Quiet

The Blue Sky (Demo)

Side E

You Have Grown Thoughtful Again

What's That You're Doing to Yourself in the Pouring Rain

Take On Me (Demo)

Hunting High and Low (Demo)

I Dream Myself Alive (Demo)

And You Tell Me (Demo)

Side F

Here I Stand and Face the Rain (Demo)

Love Is Reason (Demo)

The Blue Sky (2nd Demo)

Never Never

The Sun Always Shines on T.V.
